AM Kennedy Park

AM Kennedy Park, Beaverton, OR

Working as a subconsultant, AKS provided civil design and ongoing construction administration of the site grading and utilities for improvements to this 8.36-acre park. AKS also began by providing land use planning and surveying for a one lot partition (lot consolidation) required for the project. The improvements included a new multi-use field, play structure area, a community garden, picnic shelter, and a 90-foot-long pedestrian footbridge. Additional asphalt trails were added to the park extending the pathway network. As part of the project, AKS designed and provided construction inspection for the street frontage improvements along two sides of the park. A major design challenge was to span a creek with only 6 inches of clearance on the 100-year floodplain, while matching to an existing street location and elevation. AKS was able to modify the park/trail designs and located a vendor who could provide an off-the-shelf pre-engineered bridge, resulting in significant savings to the client.
