AKS led the design of civil and street improvements for the replacement of the old timber Dearborn Avenue bridge. Working as the Keizer’s City Engineer, the old bridge across Claggett Creek was replaced at a higher elevation to avoid the floodplain. The street design featured extra-wide raised sidewalks for pedestrians and bicyclists along Dearborn Avenue. The project required in-depth stormwater analyses and natural resource evaluations because of the creek crossing. This required permits from the state and US Army Corps of Engineers. The project received an Engineering Excellence Honor Award from ACEC Oregon.
