AKS and the City of Hillsboro Parks & Recreation celebrated the opening of the new Century Oaks Neighborhood Park with a ribbon cutting on June 22nd. The mayor and city councilors joined in to mark the occasion. The City wanted to keep the natural setting of the area, as well as the natural habitat areas that surround the park. In keeping with this, the new park incorporates many naturalistic play features, such as climbing boulders and an outdoor classroom area with log seating. Other amenities include a large climbing play structure, a public restroom facility, a covered picnic shelter, individual picnic areas, and illuminated trails connecting to the nearby community and adjacent school property.
