AKS led the expansion design of this major sanitary sewer trunk to accommodate future residential growth. Improvements included 9,800 linear feet of sewer main; an above-grade structural drainage crossing; significant natural resource permitting; and coordination with multiple jurisdictions. At the 90% design stage, Clean Water Services identified an additional 1,000 linear feet of storm main that needed replacing, which paralleled a portion of the sewer trunk main. AKS developed a design for replacement of the main and the project was completed under design and construction budgets. In 2019, the project won APWA’s Public Works Project of the Year award.
