Survey Manager, PLS

AKS Engineering & Forestry (AKS) has an immediate opening for a full-time Survey Manager for our Bend, Oregon office. You will work collaboratively with the survey managers in other offices and manage our local survey office and field staff. Your role will include serving as the Project Surveyor for projects and will be responsible for managing survey-only projects. You will work closely with other Project Managers and Project Engineers on a mixture of private and public projects ranging from large, multi-phase plats to right-of-way resolution for small intersection improvements. Ideal Candidate:
  • Oregon Professional Land Surveyor’s License (PLS) (required)
  • Associates or Bachelor of Science degree in Land Surveying or equivalent
  • 10 years minimum surveying experience with transportation, utility, residential development, and retail/commercial/industrial site development projects
  • Knowledgeable in all phases of land surveying and map preparation, including land surveying techniques, principles of boundary control and construction surveying
  • Knowledgeable in the laws and regulations pertaining to land surveying in Oregon
  • Various land surveying technical skills, including ALTA/ACSM surveys, platting, land development, ROW surveys, preliminary design surveys, topo surveys, construction staking, deed research, survey map research, and good organizational skills
  • Knowledge and use of AutoCAD Civil 3D software
  • Experience and use of Trimble Total stations, GNSS Receivers, and TSC3 data collectors
  • Experience with Trimble Access and Trimble Business Center
  • Experience supervising, organizing and managing field crews.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Project management experience that include preparing estimates, proposal development, and project budget review
  • Ability to work efficiently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines
  • Self-motivated individual that can work independently while guiding a team
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
Job Functions & Responsibilities:
  • Project Surveyor for multifamily, mixed use, municipal utilities, residential subdivisions, commercial developments, and public works projects
  • Directs the work of field crews and office survey staff
  • Prepare various survey documents including subdivision plats, exhibits, boundary surveys, record of surveys utilizing AutoCAD Civil 3D software
  • Process survey data in Trimble Business Center software
  • Import field survey data and export survey data for field work utilizing Civil 3D Software
  • Preparation of topographic survey maps including existing property features and existing ground models utilizing Civil 3D software
  • Perform office calculations and support field survey crews for construction staking and property monumentation
  • Prepare legal descriptions and exhibits of real property
  • Prepare project scope of work and budget estimates.
  • Project budget tracking
  • Coordinating with other in-house disciplines, as well as outside subconsultants on occasion
  • Providing QA/QC review of survey deliverables
  • Stamping final survey deliverables
  • Adhere to company work flows, standards and procedures
  • Doing what needs to be done
